The HCS Board of Education leads the District in its pursuit of excellence for all students as stated in our vision statement: The Hammondsport Central School District is a dynamic organization proudly committed to excellence in preparing every student to become successful in a global society through superior, innovative, educational opportunities that promote life-long learning.
As the policy-making body of the school district, the Board of Education’s role is to set and steward the goals and direction of the district through policy and active, open discussions with the superintendent. The development and implementation of strategies to achieve these goals is the responsibility of the superintendent’s office. The responsibilities of the Board include:
Establish goals, evaluate outcomes and set the direction of the district’s educational program
Adopt and revise policies for the district to achieve its goals
Hire and evaluate the superintendent and delegate administrative duties
Approve the district’s budget and sets the tax rate
Oversee school facilities and operations
Nurture school, community and government relationships
The Board meets regularly in public sessions the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00. Visitors are welcome and there are opportunities for comments by the public.
The Hammondsport Central School District is composed of five members from the local community, elected by the residents of the District. Members serve a five year term, and are listed below.
