The HCS Board of Education leads the District in its pursuit of excellence for all students as stated in our vision statement: The Hammondsport Central School District is a dynamic organization proudly committed to excellence in preparing every student to become successful in a global society through superior, innovative, educational opportunities that promote life-long learning.
As the policy-making body of the school district, the Board of Education’s role is to set and steward the goals and direction of the district through policy and active, open discussions with the superintendent. The development and implementation of strategies to achieve these goals is the responsibility of the superintendent’s office. The responsibilities of the Board include:
Establish goals, evaluate outcomes and set the direction of the district’s educational program
Adopt and revise policies for the district to achieve its goals
Hire and evaluate the superintendent and delegate administrative duties
Approve the district’s budget and sets the tax rate
Oversee school facilities and operations
Nurture school, community and government relationships
The Board meets regularly in public sessions the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00. Visitors are welcome and there are opportunities for comments by the public.
The Hammondsport Central School District is composed of five members from the local community, elected by the residents of the District. Members serve a five year term, and are listed below.

Introducing the Five Members of the Board of Education
Kevin has been a resident of the Hammondsport district since 1998 and was elected to the Board of Education in August 2013. He holds a B.S. in Applied Science in Engineering from Rutgers University and is currently employed as a development manager at Corning Incorporated. Kevin and his wife Christina have two daughters, both of whom graduated from HCS.

Carre is a wife, mother and co-owner of Doyle Vineyard Management. Her and her husband Matt reside on Keuka Lake and have four children enrolled in the district. Carre holds a BA in Political Science from Syracuse University and a M.S.T in Childhood Education from SUNY Cortland. Carre also serves on the board of the Keuka Lake Sailing Foundation, Finger Lakes Boating Museum and Vines of Hope. Carre enjoys running, snow skiing and boating.

Corey is a graduate of HCSD with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He and his wife Lauren have three children that are part of our Laker family. Corey also volunteers as a member of our local fire department and youth baseball league. Having been employed by in district businesses for over twenty years and remaining engaged in volunteering locally helps to keep him in tune with what is important to our community.

Will has been a resident of the Hammondsport School District since 2020. He and his wife have four children, all of whom are proud Hammondsport Lakers. In addition to being the Senior Pastor of Grace Community Fellowship in Pulteney, NY, Will also works in vineyard management and enjoys coaching youth sports.

Michael is a former employee of the district, a parent of two children who will attend Hammondsport, and the spouse of the elementary art teacher. He has a deep and personal investment in the success of our schools. Michael aims to foster transparency and collaboration between the board, educators, and families while advocating for responsible budgeting to support academic excellence and student well-being.
