Welcome to the Counseling and
Student Support Services Page
We believe it is important to educate the whole child. Hammondsport Central School offers a variety of counseling services to our students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
The district offers preventative individual and group counseling services, social skills groups, and intensive therapeutic mental health services. For the intensive mental health services, parent/guardians are required to participate in an intake process through the onsite Steuben County Mental Health Social Worker.
Teachers, staff and parents/guardians are able to refer children for school-based counseling services based upon educational impact. The goal is to help students and families identify their strengths and be solution focused.
Universal instruction on learning behaviors is taught by all teachers and staff in Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grades via Positive Behavior Instructional Supports (PBIS) Leading Laker expectation. Additionally, the Second Step curriculum teaches social emotional competencies through whole group instruction
