Veterans Day Clarification!

Today, we held our annual Veterans Day ceremony, a truly meaningful event for our whole school community!
We were so proud of our 6th graders who read thoughtful essays about what Veterans Day means to them. Their words truly captured the spirit of service and gratitude. We were honored to welcome our local heroes onto the stage to personally recognize and honor their invaluable service to our country.
Our elementary students added a touch of beauty with a heartfelt song as part of the ceremony. It was a wonderful way to show respect.
The ceremony concluded with all of our students participating in the tradition of placing their flags outside to commemorate this important day.
Thank you to all who serve and have served! We are grateful for your sacrifice and dedication. #VeteransDay #HonorOurVets #CommunityLove #SchoolEvent

🐢 Our 4th Graders recently had an incredible opportunity to learn history through the power of storytelling!
We were honored to host Perry Ground, a Turtle Clan member of the Onondaga Nation, who shared the rich culture, beliefs, and history of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy (sometimes known as Iroquois).
Perry has been telling stories for over 25 years, and his energetic, fun, and engaging style made our students part of the experience. It was a wonderful way to bring history and culture to life!

🍎 A legendary visitor stopped by our school yesterday! 🍎
Our Kindergarten students were so excited to celebrate the birthday of the one and only Johnny Appleseed! He shared delicious apples with all the students and brought history to life right here in the classroom.
It was a truly memorable experience that sparked so much curiosity about nature and history!
A huge, heartfelt thank you to Mr. Wisniewski for bringing this beloved character to life! You've officially earned the title of "Our Very Own Johnny Appleseed."

Subject: Upcoming Lockdown Drill at Hammondsport CSD
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, Hammondsport Central School District will be conducting a lockdown drill tomorrow, Friday, September 26, 2025. Please be aware that these drills are mandatory under New York State regulations and are an important part of our overall safety preparedness.
We recognize that the idea of a lockdown drill can sometimes cause anxiety for students. To help prepare your child and ease concerns, we encourage you to speak with them ahead of time. Here are a few talking points you may find helpful:
Purpose: Explain that just like fire drills, lockdown drills are practice to help everyone know what to do in case of an emergency.
Reassurance: Remind them that there is no danger during the drill—it is only practice.
Importance of listening: Encourage them to follow their teacher’s directions carefully and stay calm.
Safety first: Let them know that the school’s priority is always their safety and well-being.
Our goal is to conduct the drill in a calm, age-appropriate manner that emphasizes safety and preparedness. By partnering with you, we can ensure students understand the importance of the drill while feeling supported and reassured.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe school environment.
