The art department is bursting with creativity in every corner! Art 8 students are getting messy with paper mâché, creating larger than life sculptures just like Pop artist Claes Oldenburg. Studio Art classes are getting inspired and creating artwork influenced by the Masters who’ve come before them. Sculpture students are getting precise by measuring, cutting, and folding their way to paper sculpture success. And Painting students are getting matchy by recreating the colors they see in order to replicate a masterpiece. We even have some seniors working on a brand new mural outside the library – more on that to come!

Our ELA students have been busy!

Sophomores are sharpening their grammar skills with the board game In Pursuit of Grammar—because learning is always better with a little friendly competition. Seventh graders are getting creative using the “We Will Write” software to bring their ideas to life. Our AP Language & Composition students are hard at work perfecting their argumentative free response essays—future debate champions in the making. 8th graders are kicking off their newest adventure with a Choose Your Own Adventure book study—where every choice leads somewhere new. And 11th Grade Regents students are diving into the powerful and inspiring Tuesdays With Morrie. We are so proud of all the hard work happening in our classrooms!

¡Hola! College-level Spanish students have been busy researching and presenting on opportunities for ecotourism throughout Mexico and Central America... With a little help from Pre-K Future Spanish Star Karson! Students and friends came to watch the presentations and we're all feeling ready for our own Spanish Club ecotourism adventure in less than two months to Costa Rica. I'll be travelling with 18 students to explore the volcanos, rainforests, cloud forests, hot springs, beaches, and all the incredible culture that Costa Rica has to offer. It will be the trip of a lifetime ¡Pura vida!

Our science classes have been buzzing with excitement! In Integrated Science, students have been wrapping up their Environmental Science and Groundwater units, while Earth and Space Science students have been diving into geologic hazards like earthquakes and volcanoes. Before break, our science students also had an amazing opportunity to attend a STEM Day event sponsored by Corning Community College and the Career Development Council. It was a great experience filled with learning, exploration, and inspiration!

Three Glenn Curtiss students participated in the Shop with a Cop program, joined by our School Resource Officer, Officer Stremel. This program does more than just provide holiday gifts; it fosters trust, mentorship, and lasting bonds between our youth and local law enforcement. We are grateful for Officer Stremel’s dedication to our students both inside and outside the classroom. #StudentSuccess #CommunityEngagement #SRO #GlennCurtiss #ShopWithACop
